Small businesses across the state are sharing their success stories and being celebrated during the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) small business week, April 29-May 5. The week-long celebration includes the SBA awards hosted at Billings’ Camelot Ranch, a 2017 success story of the Montana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network. The awards ceremony will celebrate many other businesses that have been assisted by the SBDC state network.

In 2017, the SBDC network helped successfully launch 78 new businesses and created or retained 841 jobs. Montana has a thriving environment for entrepreneurs to curate their business ventures, supporting the growth of local and state economy economies. In fact, Montana is consistently ranked among the top four states in the nation for entrepreneurship.

“If anyone is considering a business venture or if you want to refine an existing business I would highly recommend you make the SBDC one of your first stops,” said Steven P Tucker, owner of Camelot Ranch.

The SBDC annual report contains success stories from across the state, which are featured online at the Montana SBDC website, sbdc.mt.gov/success. The following small businesses have shared their success stories:

  • Camelot Ranch, Billings
  • Zero In Shooting Center, Bozeman
  • Copper Tee, Butte
  • Play ‘N’ Learn, Great Falls
  • The Infinity Bake Shoppe, Havre
  • Dr. Liz Cavin Naturopathic Doctor, Helena
  • Bear Creek Guest Ranch, Kalispell
  • Regional SBDC Grand Opening at Miles Community College, Miles City
  • Conflux Brewing, Missoula
  • Lund Chiropractic & The Body Building, Wolf Point

The Montana SBDC at the Department of Commerce is excited to celebrate all small businesses across the state during SBA small business week. Small businesses are truly the backbone of Montana’s economy. With the offering of free one-on-one business counseling the SBDC network can help small businesses reach their goals.

The 2018 SBA Awards has been skillfully planned by Big Sky Economic Development located in Billings. The event will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Camelot Ranch. Tickets can be purchased at bigskyeconomicdevelopment.org/sbaawards.

The Montana SBDC is funded in-part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Montana Department of Commerce, visit http://sbdc.mt.gov/.
