Quality Schools Emergency Grants

The Department has $100,000 available for the 2015 Biennium to be used for emergency grants to public school districts. Emergency is statutorily defined as the imminent threat or actual occurrence of an event causing immediate peril to life, property, or the environment that can be averted or minimized with timely action. These grants are awarded directly through the Department. The Department will report to the Governor and Legislature regarding each Emergency Grant awarded during the previous biennium.

The Department of Commerce will hold a public hearing on May 29th, 2013 at 1:00pm in Room 504A of the Park Avenue Building at 301 South Park Avenue in Helena, Montana, to consider the proposed adoption of the Quality Schools Emergency Grant Guidelines and Administration Manual for the 2015 Biennium.  Interested parties may comment on the proposed Guidelines and Administration Manual by submitting their data, views or arguments either orally or in writing at the hearing or throughout the comment period ending at 5:00pm on June 6th, 2013.  Comments may be submitted directly to the Department of Commerce, Planning Bureau, 301 South Park Avenue, PO Box 200523, Helena, Montana 59620-0523; by telephone (406) 841-2770; by fax (406) 841-2771; or by email DOCQualitySchools@mt.gov, and must be received by June 6th, 2013.  Interested parties who cannot attend the public hearing in person may participate via conference call, by following the directions below:
