Commerce Awards $320,000 in Grants to 24 Native-Owned Small Businesses

Lewistown Montana HELENA – The Montana Department of Commerce today announced $320,000 in grants available through the Indian Equity Fund will support 24 new and expanding Native-owned small businesses.

“The Indian Equity Fund has a proven record of successfully infusing capital into Native-owned small businesses in Montana,” said Department of Commerce Director Scott Osterman. “In fact, 92 percent of recipients over the past five years are still operating and even expanding further.”

The Indian Equity Fund is one of four financial assistance programs under the Office of Indian Country Economic Development at the Montana Department of Commerce. Other programs include the Native American Business Advisors Grant, Native American Collateral Support, and the Tribal Business Planning Grant.
