Department of Commerce Awards $1.5 Million of Big Sky Film Grant Funding to 33 Filmed-in-Montana Productions

“Big Sky Film Grants have proven to benefit Montana’s economy,” said Scott Osterman, Director of the Montana Department of Commerce. “Our state’s investment in Montana based film productions has helped support 840 Montana jobs, paying $41.5 million in payroll to Montanans. These are contractors, trades men and women, and other local service providers all across Montana.”
The 33 Big Sky Film Grant recipients announced today have a total estimated production cost of more than $131 million and expect that they will spend an estimated $74 million in Montana.
The grants are awarded to eligible production projects in three different categories: Feature Film and TV, Resident Filmmaker, and Short-Form Content. The following projects have been approved to receive Big Sky Film Grant funding:
Feature Film and Television Grants
- Falling Up Productions, LLC will receive $60,000 for the production of “Falling Up.”
- Good Works Film, LLC will receive $125,000 for the production of “Outlaw Posse.”
- H3 Exports, LLC will receive $70,000 for the production of “Beauty Queen.”
- Moai Films will receive $50,000 for the production of “Hunter Grail.”
- Night of the Grizzlies, LLC will receive $100,000 for the production of “Night of the Grizzlies.”
- Old Dollar Productions, LLC will receive $81,000 for the production of “Nebraska Fish and Game.”
- Rezistor Films will receive $150,000 for the production of “Crying Ground.”
- Barbara Van Cleve's American West, LLC will receive $75,000 for the production of “Barbara Van Cleve's American West: As Seen Through Her Lens.”
- Enigmatic Features will receive $37,500 for the production of “Encounters.”
- Luminous Inc. will receive $75,000 for the production of “Warriors Watch.”
- Pan Fried Media will receive $75,000 for the production of “American Hi-Line.”
- The Password Is Productions will receive $50,000 for the production of “Safe Word.”
- The Wrath of the Bat, LLC will receive $50,000 for the production of “Kung Fu Slayers: The Wrath of the Bat.”
- UM Broadcast Media Center will receive $50,000 for the production of “George Bird Grinnell: Saving the West.”
- Arthouse Billy Studios will receive $25,000 for the production of “Paradise Lost.”
- Bunkum Studios will receive $25,000 for the production of “$55 Private Room in A Safe Quiet Neighborhood.”
- Circle Arrow Productions, LLC will receive $50,000 for the production of “Copper Horizon.”
- CM Video Arts will receive $5,000 for the production of “They Don't Leave.”
- Dance River Productions, LLC will receive $25,000 for the production of “A Different, Deadly Beast: The 1918 Influenza in Montana.”
- Deva, LLC will receive $17,000 for the production of “Lana Turner's Eyes.”
- Elyon Films will receive $20,000 for the production of “To Build a Fire.”
- Jill's Inspiration Kitchen, LLC will receive of $30,000 for the production of “Jill's Inspiration Kitchen.”
- JMac Productions will receive $37,500 for production of “Montana’s Best.”
- Kootenai Country Montana Foundation will receive $40,000 for the production of “Chainsaw Carving & Libby Montana.”
- Legacy Collective Films will receive $20,000 for the production of “The Hand That Feeds.”
- Meagher County Stewardship Council will receive $30,000 for the production of “Reimagining Rural: A Montana Small Town Story.”
- Mountain Time Arts will receive $7,000 for the production of “Revealed: How the Land Remembers Us.”
- Mission Ranch Studios, LLC will receive $20,000 for the production of “Scraps.”
- Montana Institute for the Arts will receive $25,000 for the production of “The Blotter.”
- N'aquilia Productions will receive $20,000 for the production of “Water Girl.”
- Smoking Bear Pictures will receive $20,000 for the production of “Captive.”
- SMC Productions will receive $20,000 for the production of “Searching for George.”
- Zgreen Entertainment, Inc. will receive $15,000 for the production of “Blood & Water.”
