Congratulations to our second quarter employee spotlight, Jessica John, Made in Montana Program manager with the Montana Department of Commerce’s Destination MT Division. The employee spotlight recognizes members of the Commerce team for their dedication, hard work and commitment to the agency’s mission. Jessica was chosen for her success with the Made in Montana Program and for her collaborative, positive work ethic.

Jessica grew up in Texas and earned her degree in plant and environmental sciences at Texas A&M University. Starting her career in hospitality as a front office supervisor with Sage Lodge in Pray, Jessica became the regional trainer for Columbia Hospitality for the entire state of Montana and then the event manager at the Rialto in Bozeman. This gave her the groundwork for business and event planning. She started at Commerce in 2025 as the executive assistant for the Montana Board of Housing, moving into her current role later that year. Jessica has always had a passion for creating community and helping educate people, and it warms her heart to support Montanans every day with the MiM Program by helping its members grow their businesses. After her first MiM trade show this year, she can’t wait to continue her work at Commerce.

Her nomination read in part: “Jessica has excelled since stepping into the Made in Montana Program manager role last year. She leveraged her deep events background to elevate the trade show experience for MiM members. Despite challenges like severe weather and last-minute cancellations, she remained calm and strategic, ensuring this year’s show was a major success. She also helped the MiM Retailer of the Year, 56 Counties, with its grand opening in Helena. Beyond the trade show, Jessica has significantly grown MiM Program membership and brand exposure. She is a collaborative, positive teammate who consistently offers insightful contributions.”

Congratulations, Jessica, and thank you for all you do!
