HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Department of Commerce announced today that $120,000 in grant funding has been awarded to the Colstrip Hospital District for the implementation of an electronic records management migration for the Colstrip Hospital District. The funding was allocated by the Montana Coal Board.
“Commerce is proud to support the people who live in Montana’s coal country. In the last five years, more than $14 million of Coal Board grant funding has been awarded to seven counties, eight school districts, seven cities or towns, one tribe, one water and sewer district and now, one hospital district,” said Marta Bertoglio, Montana Department of Commerce director.
Colstrip Hospital District Administrator John Poole said, “The Coal Board Grant that Colstrip Hospital District was awarded will connect us with the rest of the affiliates of Billings Clinic and Logan Health, a Montana-based health care system. This will help our providers and patients with continuity of care across the system; we will all have access to records in a timely manner and reduce redundant testing.”
The Montana Coal Board awards Coal Board Impact Grants to counties, communities, school districts, tribal governments, or other governmental units to assist them in adequately providing governmental services or facilities that are needed as a direct consequence of an increase or decrease in coal development, or in the consumption of coal by a coal-using energy complex. The Coal Impact Area Report can be found here, along with a list and a map.
The Board was created by the Legislature in 1975 and is administratively attached to Commerce. For more information, visit commerce.mt.gov.
